Friday in Franklin County: Got You Covered

Friday in FranklinIf you follow me over at Learning As I Go, you know that I spend a lot of time at baseball, basketball, and football games, etc.  This means I need to be extra prepared with my spirit-wear and when I’m in need, I head to Got You Covered in Hampton!  John & Deb Currier have an amazing little business in the downtown Hampton and I’m excited to feature it here today!

Clothing and sewing has been in Deb’s blood for a long time.  In 4th grade her mother taught her how to sew and she made all of her own clothing as she went through school.  Working with thread and fabric has always been natural to her.  She began looking for something to supplement their income.  However, she wanted to work from home so she could be with their children.  She eventually started to research commercial embroidery and found it was a niche that she wanted to pursue.

She started their business in 2003 with one commercial embroidery machine and 18 months later, they purchased another.  Their business grew fairly quickly, adding more machines and also adding screen printing, digital printing, and vinyl applications.  7 years after they set up shop in their home, they knew it was time to move out and into a store!  In 2009 they purchased the building where they are located now.  They moved their shop to the location as well and Got You Covered opened it’s doors in March of 2010.

13 years later and their list of products and services offered ranges a great deal!  They offer in-house screen printing, embroidery, digital printing, and vinyl applications.  They will also graphically create designs from customers ideas to be printed and embroidered.  They work with schools, organizations, fundraisers, etc.  Their selections include, but are not limited to athletic wear, athletic accessories, business and corporate wear.  They have also worked with booster clubs, service clubs (Kiwanis, Rotary, Lions, etc), and benefits.

What’s surprising about Got You Covered?  They offer more than just t-shirt printing.  Their retail store also has a line of collegiate clothing for ISU and Iowa (UNI is coming this fall).  They also carry a line of Melissa & Doug toys.  They often hear from customers, “We didn’t know you had all these things!”   They have a very large variety of clothes, outerwear, and accessories for all Hampton-Dumont fans as well as items for CAL Cadets, and West Fork Warhawks!

I asked Deb what the best part of owning their business was & she said that she likes the ability to set goals and work towards them.  They find reward in investing in a business that serves the community around them.  The Curriers also love the small-town laid back pace of Hampton.  They enjoy serving the customers there and working in the community.  When looking at Franklin County as a whole, Deb says that a lot of people are local-business minded.  They truly appreciate the support from those that use their services and understand the value of spending their money in Franklin County!
